Secure Server (SSL)

When using a secure certificate, always make sure you add the 's' after 'http'. Example: https://...

Using our secure certificate:

If you want your own secure certificate (https://www.yourname.com/), you must acquire one from Thawte or Verisign. You can generate the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and install the certificate by clicking the 'Secure Server' button in the Control Panel. The Secure URL will appear as:

https://www.yourdomain.com/

Once a CSR is generated from your control panel, copy and paste it into the CSR field on Thawte or Verisign's web site. Thawte's certificate is just as high in quality a secure certificate as Verisign's and, at this time, is much less expensive.

Thawte walk through:

    1. Generate you CSR by clicking the "Secure Server" button in your control panel to generate CSR code. Highlight and Select all of the CSR code and copy. (Save this CSR Code).

    2. Go to https://www.thawte.com/cgi/server/step1.exe

    3. Choose 'SSL Server Certificate' and click 'Next.'

    4. Paste the CSR code from Step 1 into the 'Certificate Signing Request (CSR)' field.

    5. Choose 'Apache+mod_ssl' as web server software.

    6. Click 'Next' to continue with payment options.

You will need to fax your local Thawte office a printout of your company information proving that it is your company and you own the domain name that the secure certificate is for. Fax is available on their site at: http://www.thawte.com/
